Pinsent Masons’ retention inches up

Pinsent Masons has revealed a retention rate of 82 per cent for its spring 2014 qualifiers, keeping 14 of 17 final-seat trainees.

The top 20 firm, which takes trainees in its London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds offices, received 16 applications, with one qualifier choosing not to apply.

The rate marks a marginal rise from its 81 per cent rate last year, when it kept on 13 of 16 trainees.

Pinsents’ revenue jumped by 40 per cent from £220.5m in 2011/12 to £309.2m in 2012/13, fuelled by its merger with the Scottish-founded McGrigors.
