A diploma in paralegal practice has been launched by Newcastle College, endorsed by the National Association of Licensed Paralegals (NALP).
The course, which takes three years to complete on a part-time basis and two years to complete on a full-time basis, costs £5,800 per year.
Successful students will be awarded with the FdA Paralegal Practice and NALP Level 4 Diploma in Paralegal Studies. The diploma covers modules such as General Principles of Law and the Role of the Paralegal as well as tort, criminal and contract law.
The diploma is due to be launched at the House of Commons on 14 November at an event attended by chair of the Bar Council Maura McGowan QC and head of family and social justice at the Law Society Mark Paulson.
