LG, Martineau strike LPC deal with CoL

Lawrence Graham (LG) and Martineau have become the latest firms to announce exclusive training tie-ups with the College of Law (CoL) as the education giant continues its assault on the UK legal market.

Under the agreement with LG, which has just come into effect this academic year, the majority of the future trainee solicitors will study their Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the CoL’s London Moorgate centre, although they can opt to attend any of the eight college locations around the UK for the GDL.

Geoff Gouriet, graduate recruitment partner at LG said: “We wanted to enter into an exclusive relationship with a single provider to ensure a more consistent approach to training and an integrated introduction to practice.”

Meanwhile, as part of the deal with Martineau, which came into place at the start of September 2010, all of the firm’s trainees can choose to study the LPC at any of the college’s eight locations around the UK.

Director of HR at Martineau Diane Price said: “It will mean that all our trainees receive the same quality training, which will provide them with the best starting point for their career at Martineau.”
