The Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) of the Law Society is rolling out its first ever skills event for trainee solicitors.
The initial one-day forum is to be held at the College of Law (CoL) Birmingham-branch in February and should be expanded to London later this year.
Executive officer for the JLD and Irwin Mitchell trainee solicitor Sarah Bolt said: “Life as a trainee solicitor is competitive and not many trainee solicitors receive the support and training that they need to prepare them for their training contract or life as a newly qualified solicitor.
“With increasing competition to be retained or find a new job, trainee solicitors not only need to work on making themselves stand out, but also need to deal with the difficulties they may face at work, both financial and stress related.”
The day will be split into several skills workshops and presentations designed to equip trainees with the necessary tools to reach qualification successfully.
The event, which will mirror JLD’s Legal Practice Course student and newly qualified solicitor days, will also include a stress management class and financial tips session.
The trainee solicitors’ forum is free to attend and has an application deadline of 25 January 2012.
