Hogan Lovells boosts NQ retention to 83 per cent

Hogan Lovells has announced it is retaining 83 per cent of its March 2012 qualifying trainee solicitors.

The top ten firm is keeping 30 out of 36 of its newly qualified (NQ) lawyers, marking a good rise from previous qualification rounds last year.

The firm retained 79 per cent of March 2011 qualifiers, with 26 out of 33 trainees accepting NQ positions at the firm.

Meanwhile, in summer 2011 the firm posted a 73 per cent retention rate, holding onto 24 out of a 33-strong cohort.

The news follows the majority of the magic circle revealing their NQ retention rates for spring 2012, with Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer posting 89 per cent, 76 per cent and 85 per cent respectively (27 January 2012).

SJ Berwin remains the only top 20 law firm to date to confirm 100 per cent retention, keeping all eight of its trainee solicitors (18 January 2012).
