High retention at Watson Farley as NQ pay rises to £68,000

Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has recorded 93 per cent trainee retention for this autumn.

The firm is keeping 13 out of its 14 final seat trainees in newly-qualified roles.

Five trainees will join the asset finance team in London, with another going to the same team in Hamburg.

Four qualifiers join the energy practice, two go to corporate and one to litigation.

Training principal Christina Howard said: “We’re delighted that so many of our trainees will be qualifying at WFW.”

The London-headquartered firm will take 18 trainees from this autumn, up from 16 last year, and told Lawyer 2B that anticipates that demand for trainees will grow further in future.

WFW also increased its salary for first year trainees from £41,000 to £42,000, while NQ salaries rise from £64,000 to £68,000. Second-year trainee salaries rise from £45,000 to £46,000.
