Clifford Chance opts for BPP, leaving Linklaters as only magic circle trainee group still taught by ULaw

Clifford Chance has decided to send its trainees to BPP for their Legal Practice Course (LPC) for the next five years.

From January 2015, future trainees will begin their business-focused MA LPC at the school. Future trainees taking a Clifford Chance-sponsored Graduate Diploma in Law will attend BPP from September 2015.

BPP’s business school will allow the law school to draw on its business acumen to teach its MA LPC to the cohorts of all three firms. Trainees will take business, finance and strategy modules in addition to legal modules in a bid to develop both wider commercial awareness and an understanding of how a law firm functions as a business.

Clifford Chance is the latest is a series of firms to switch its allegiance from the University of Law (ULaw) to BPP. Just last month DWF made the same move (22 August 2014) while fellow magic circle outfit Allen & Overy decided to send its trainees to BPP last December (16 December 2013). Osborne Clarke made the decision to send its trainees from ULaw to BPP in April 2013 (11 April 2013).

Linklaters is now the only magic circle firm to remain with the University of Law. The news was first published on legal gossip site RollonFriday.
