BPTC technical glitch delays submissions

A fault with the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) online application system has pushed back the initial submission date.

The deadline for the first round of applications for the professional legal course, which was set at today (12 January, has now been delayed until 2pm on Friday 13 January.

However the opening date for Institutions to despatch offers and rejection letters to applicants, and the closing date for receipt of acceptances, have remained on the 6 March and 3 April respectively.

This is the second time aspiring barristers have been hit with technical glitches in application systems, after a software error in the Pupillage Portal resulted in chambers receiving incomplete forms last year (16 July 2011).

The BPTC scholarship timetable was also interrupted by the Royal Wedding, after the Middle Temple was forced to delay making scholarship offers until after the deadline for the second round of applications (29 March 2011).
