Freshfields backs NY Olympic bid

FreshfieldsBruckhaus Deringer, which is advising London 2012 pro bono on the Olympics bid, has also donated over $50,000 (26,900) to a rival bid by New York.

Freshfields, Clifford Chance, Ashurst and Berwin Leighton Paisner are working pro bono on Londons bid, but only the first three are major partners.

Rules state that candidate cities cannot agree to later give paid work to businesses that advise free at the bidding stage. But all four should be instructed if London wins.

Most sponsors have stuck to one city, although EDF is supporting both London and Paris.
