Cobbetts trains associates for partnership

Northern law firm Cobbetts has launched a scheme to prepare its associates with the skills and understanding they will need to become partners

Designed in association with the College of Law, the new diploma in management training is taught in four modules across two years, covering self-management, managing others, client relationships and financial management.

Aimed at associates with four or five years experience, the course is not compulsory. Cobbetts training manager Vanessa Forster said that 17 members of staff were already at work on the first module.

Forster said: “For many associates, developing management skills is an increasingly important factor in progressing towards partnership. Our intention is to produce fully rounded managers of the future.”
