Manchester-based firm Pannone has become the first law firm to offer a scholarship programme for the College of Law’s (CoL) new two-year law degree (LLB).
The firm will provide one successful candidate with £3,000 per year to supplement the government funding, as well as one-week of work experience in its Manchester office.
Graduate recruitment partner Andrea Cohen said: “We’re opening an opportunity that wouldn’t necessarily be there for some students, as there are a lot of able people who just believe law is beyond their reach.
“We hope this will attract people who perhaps wouldn’t have considered studying law.”
The award is open to future LLB students at the CoL Chester-branch, with the one-week placement due to take place in March 2013.
The CoL is also rolling out its two-year LLB in its Birmingham and London centres in September 2012 (24 January 2011).
The news follows the CoL announcing it is rolling out its first scholarship programmes to students studying the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), the Legal Practice Course (LPC), the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and the LLB next year (4 January 2012).
