Herbert Smith has posted an 88 per cent newly qualified (NQ) retention rate for spring 2012.
The top 20 law firm has announced it is keeping 35 out of the 40 trainee solicitors due to qualify in March this year.
The result sits fairly steady on previous qualification rounds, with the firm achieving 90 per cent retention in spring 2011, holding onto 43 out of 48 NQs.
The news follows Wragge & Co, Macfarlanes and Reeds Smith revealing their spring NQ retention rates last week, revealing 100 per cent, 40 per cent and 56 per cent respectively (3 February 2012).
SJ Berwin remains the only top 20 law firm to reveal 100 per cent retention to date (18 January 2012).
The only top 20 law firms still to reveal their March 2012 retention rates are Eversheds, Simmons & Simmons, Slaughter and May and Linklaters.
