Wragge & Co is giving a face-lift to its AS level student open day by rolling out a dedicated mentoring scheme.
The 18-month programme will invite students to several skills sessions, while giving them continuous direct contact with a trainee solicitor and graduate recruitment team member.
Graduate recruitment manager Chloe Lloyd said: “The idea behind the ‘Day in the Life of a Lawyer’ scheme is to boost awareness about a career in law and show students from all backgrounds that it’s open to all.
“There was only so much you can do in one day, and by expanding it we’re concentrating on helping them develop the skills needed for any career they want to pursue.”
The open day has run annually since 2006, with 16- to 18-year-olds from inner city schools in the local area spending a day at the firm’s office.
The most engaged and enthusiastic students are then invited to attend a week-long work experience placement at the firm. It is anticipated that the mentoring scheme will become a permanent fixture of the open day programme.
