Weil Gotshal & Manges has launched a fast-track scheme for first-year university students, offering successful participants a place on its vacation scheme.
The US firm’s London office will offer a week’s work experience to up to ten students, starting from April. Applicants will need to be on track to gain a 2:1 or 1st class degree and should have achieved AAB at A level.
Participants will share offices with associates and work on similar tasks and projects to those done by a trainee solicitor. The firm said that participants would be paid ‘reasonable expenses’ and that it was still finalising the finer details of remuneration.
Weil graduate recruitment partner Jonathan Wood said: “In an increasingly competitive environment we are looking to engage with bright and focused individuals at an earlier stage of their education. We hope that the introduction of this scheme will allow us to do just that.”
Other firms to launch first-year schemes include Hogan Lovells and Simmons & Simmons, while many more now run first-year open days.
