Twobirds keeps 92 per cent of qualifying trainees

Bird & Bird has posted a 92 per cent newly qualified (NQ) retention rate for autumn 2012.

The top 20 law firm has retained 11 out of 12 trainee solicitors due to qualify this September, after making 11 offers.

This result is a slight boost from the previous autumn qualification round where the firm kept 12 out of 16 NQs, giving it an 81 per cent retention rate.

The news follows Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer becoming the second magic circle firm to announce its NQ retention rates, posting 89 per cent after 41 trainees accepted positions (3 August 2012).

This was higher than rival Clifford Chance that retained 77 per cent, after keeping 48 out of 62 trainees (24 July 2012).

Elsewhere, Field Fisher Waterhouse, Howard Kennedy and SJ Berwin revealed NQ retention rates of 85 per cent, 100 per cent and 64 per cent (3 August 2012).
