The sun shines on L2B’s law society BBQ

It was all aboard Lawyer 2B’s summer boat party along the River Thames for around 50 university law society presidents and committee members from across the country.

The annual event, now in its second year, kicked off at Kaplan Law School yesterday evening (24 June) and students got to take a tour of the institution while getting to know a few of the tutors.

The would-be lawyers then joined Lawyer 2B and various law firms including Addleshaw Goddard and Linklaters on a riverboat cruise along the Thames to enjoy a slap-up BBQ, jugs of Pimms and to party the night away.

Cardiff law society president Marcus Coates-Walker travelled all the way from Wales to attend the event and insisted he was glad he had made the trip.

“It was fantastic to meet so many different law society presidents in one place so we could swap ideas and also make contact with the law firms and Kaplan. The weather was fantastic and it was a real party atmosphere,” said Coates-Walker.

Kaplan’s Bar Professional Training Course director James Wakefield also got to enjoy some rare time off at the BBQ before he launches the new programme for would-be barristers at the school in September 2010.

He said: “Everyone had a brilliant time and it was a fantastic way to enjoy the brilliant weather and meet some very impressive students.”

The BBQ was sponsored by Kaplan. Other law firms involved included Ashurst, Bird & Bird, CMS Cameron McKenna, Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge and Field Fisher Waterhouse.
