Sussex University students win client interviewing challenge

Two Sussex University law students have scooped the top prize in this year’s National Client Interviewing Competition.

Graduate Diploma in Law students, David Crockford and Robert Black are now set to take their chances at the international competition, which is to be held in Maastricht in April.

Chair of the National Client Interviewing Competition Graham Robson, said: “The Oxford Brookes team finished runners-up in the 2010 international competition. I have judged the Sussex team and they are certainly as good, so fingers crossed.”

The national final required the nine teams to undertake three interviews each, focused on the theme of privacy, defamation and confidentiality.

The other institutions in the final included teams from the College of Law, City University, Oxford Brookes University and the universities of Greenwich, Portsmouth and Warwick.

Crockford and Black have already won prizes of £250 each from the Law Society, and Sussex Law School received £1,000 towards the team’s expenses in taking part in the international competition.

The International Client Interviewing Competition will require the team to compete against law schools from all around the world.
