Senior clerk launches student bar blog

The former senior clerk of chambers 5 St Andrew’s Hill has launched a blog for bar students.

Innsider is written by William Lavell, BPP Law School’s specialist new student mentor for the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), and is designed to give tips and guidance for those aiming for a career at the Bar.

The blog can be found here.

Lavell began clerking in 1975 as third junior clerk and left last year as senior clerk of 5 St Andrew’s Hill.

In a statement, Lavell said “Training as a barrister represents a significant financial, mental and emotional involvement for an individual. My job is to make sure BPP’s students stay ahead of the competition when it comes to applying for pupillage and places in Chambers.”

The latest edition of the Bar Standards Board’s and Bar Council’s Bar Barometer disclosed that 2010/11 saw the highest number of applications for the BPTC in five years – with 3,100 students applying for places (14 November 2012).
