I am thinking of doing a Juris-Doctor programme in Hong Kong – how will this affect my chances with UK firms?
I am a final year non-law student about to graduate, aiming to go into law. I went on a year abroad in Hong Kong, and I would love to be able to return there permanently. I have been accepted to a Juris-Doctor programme at a Hong Kong university. This is a post-graduate legal course that would be equivalent to doing a GDL in the UK. My question is whether firms, international commercial firms in particular, would recruit Hong Kong law graduates directly, or should I do the GDL in the UK and try to transfer to Hong Kong from the UK?
