My university grades are not high enough – what should I do?

I am a second year law student at a redbrick institution. In my first year I averaged at 50.5% and this year I averaged at 57.5%. I have not been able to apply for any vacation schemes because of my grades.

I have excellent A levels and decent GCSEs. I have done pro bono and work experience at a high street firm but cannot gain any work experience. Is it possible to still apply for vac schemes in my third year with 57.5%? Or should I just wait until I graduate and then just apply for training contracts?
