More scholarships launched at the CoL

The College of Law is to offer over 100 further scholarships to students in the form of Star, Gold, Lunar, and Platinum awards.

Scholarships will be decided on academic achievement and will be available to LLB, Graduate Diploma in Law, LLM Legal Practice Course and Bar Professional Training Course students.

Sarah Hutchinson, board member for business development, said: “The UK legal services sector makes a significant contribution to the success of ‘UK plc’, contributing more than £19bn to the UK economy annually, and is a great success story in the context of the UK’s impact within global commerce. It is vital that top class students are continually entering the profession to secure the sector’s future growth.”

The 30 LLB Star awards worth £1,500 each are open to students with 360 or more UCAS points, or equivalent.

All the other awards provide £3,000 towards fees.

GDL Gold awards, of which there are 35, are available to students with a first class undergraduate degree in any subject or a distinction at masters level.

To qualify for BPTC or LLM LPC awards students must have gained a first class undergraduate degree or a distinction at masters or GDL level.

These awards are in addition to the recently announced 2013/2014 scholarship programmes for these same four courses, which require entrants to submit presentations addressing set topics. (5 November 2012)
