Lovells has joined forces with the University of Edinburgh and Tanfield Chambers to offer an internship programme for students who are doing a Masters in international commercial arbitration.
Under the programme, two students will have the opportunity to work in the international arbitration team of Lovells and the international disputes team of Tanfield Chambers in a bid to gain a “hands on experience” of complex cases to support their studies.
Head of Lovells international arbitration practice Michael Davison said: “This technical area of law requires not only academic expertise but a certain amount of hands on experience of complex cases.”
“It will be a great opportunity for us to work with an extremely high calibre of students and may prove a good source of future arbitration lawyers for the firm.”
Davison admitted that although the length of the programme had not yet been finalised a placement of up to three-months long had not yet been ruled out.
Details of the programme will be announced at a lecture to be given on 2 December at the University of Edinburgh by Davison and Steven Walker, the course director and barrister at Tanfield Chambers.
