The eighth London Legal Walk has raised over £525,000 for law centres and legal advice agencies.
The 10k walk, organised by the London Legal Support Trust, was led by top members of the profession including the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge; the Master of the Rolls, Lord Neuberger; and the Attorney General Dominic Grieve QC MP.
Over 400 teams comprising more than 6000 walkers, including law firms, barristers’ chambers, law schools and other members of the legal world, took part.
Last year saw more than 5000 people walk the 10k, raising £495,000 for law centres and specialist legal advice agencies that provide their services through a mixture of legal aid and local authority funding and charitable donations.
The walk is also supported by a host of organisations including the Law Society, the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX), the General Council of the Bar, Her Majesty’s Courts Service and Tribunals Service and LawWorks.
