Lawyer 2B hosts summer boat party for student law societies

Around 60 university law society committee members from across the country took to the Thames last week in Lawyer 2B’s annual summer boat party.

The event, now in its fourth year, kicked off at Kaplan Law School on 21 June, with Kaplan’s Bar Professional Training Course director James Wakefield starting proceedings by holding an introductory talk with the aspiring lawyers.

Cardiff university law society treasurer Rhys Jenkins said: “I think it’s invaluable to get to meet the law firms face-to-face so that you know they are human and also so that they can see you and know you are more than a name on a piece of paper.

“After all they are looking for people not robots.”

A host of law firms including Ashurst, Clyde & Co, Field Fisher Waterhouse, Macfarlanes, Taylor Wessing and Weil Gotshal & Manges joined the students on the riverboat cruise.

The students got the opportunity to take part in ‘speed-networking’ as well as indulge on a slap-up BBQ and plenty of jugs of Pimms courtesy of Kaplan.
