King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin reveals 71% retention

King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin has retained 71 per cent of its spring 2014 qualifying trainees.

The firm is keeping on 12 of 17 qualifiers, after all 17 applied for jobs.

The result is one of the lower rates in this spring’s largely positive retention round. This time last year, the pre-merger SJ Berwin kept on 11 of 14 spring 2013 qualifiers, translating to a rate of 79 per cent.

SJ Berwin merged with Asia Pacific giant King & Wood Mallesons in November last year, combining to create a firm of 2,700 lawyers in 30 locations with a turnover of $1bn.
