Students at City Law School are being offered the chance to win an international internship with either Shearman & Sterling, Sidley Austin or Stibbe.
Selected via an essay competition and interview, the students will take up the posts next summer.
Director of the LLM Programme at City, Professor Alan Riley said: “The internships give the winning students the opportunity to blend the knowledge that he or she develops on our international commercial law LLM courses with first-rate practical commercial experience at some of the world’s top law firms. Each of the successful students will gain invaluable insight into modern practice at the highest level”.
Shearman & Sterling is offering a three-month internship in its Brussels office, an antitrust practice, to students on City’s Commercial Law LLM. Those taking International Cartels, Antitrust Law in a Global Context and Substantive EU Competition Law courses in their first term can also apply.
Sidley Austin is also offering a Brussels-based placement for students on the International Cartels, Substantive EU Competition Law, Antitrust in a Global Context or World Trade courses.
Finally, Benelux firm Stibbe is offering a three month placement within its EU and competition law practice in Amsterdam to students on the International Cartels course.
All work experience will be paid and the lucky student at Stibbe will also have the use of a bicycle.
This follows news that City will offer participation in a legal advice clinic as an elective module this year. (28 September 2012)
