Hogan Lovells reveals flat retention

Hogan Lovells has posted a 76 per cent retention rate for its autumn 2013 qualifiers.

The City firm made 28 offers to its 33 qualifiers and 25 were accepted. All those staying on will work in the firm’s London office.

The rate matches the firm’s spring result, when it kept on 26 of 34 qualifiers, and is marginally higher than its autumn 2012 rate of 73 per cent, when 27 of 37 were retained.

Hogan Lovells’ rate is the latest in a series of good retention rates in the City. Earlier today, RPC revealed a rate of 81 per cent, holding on to 13 of a total of 16 of its second-year trainees in newly-qualified (NQ) positions.

Last week, Osborne Clarke revealed it will retain all of its eight trainees qualifying in September 2013. The top 50 firm announced that it would keep on four trainees in newly-qualified (NQ) positions in Bristol, three in London and one in Reading.

Nabarro announced a healthy rate of 83 per cent while DLA Piper kept on 73 per cent of its intake. The lowest retention rate revealed so far for autumn qualifiers was at Shoosmiths, which last week admitted it would be keeping on just 41 per cent of its qualifiers in an NQ capacity.
