Hill Dickinson, Maclays and Weightmans reveal retention

Hill Dickinson, Maclay Murray & Spens and Weightmans have announced their retention rates for autumn 2013.

Hill Dickinson will retain 15 trainees from a cohort of 21. The firm will employ seven of the 15 as newly-qualified (NQ) solicitors in its business services group. Two NQs will work within the health department while another two will be posted in the insurance group. A further three will work in the marine department.

Scotland’s Maclay Murray & Spens revealed that it is retaining 15 of 19 trainees in NQ positions in its Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London offices.

Chief Executive Chris Smylie said of the rate: “It signals our confidence in the future, as we further build our strategy for growth, following last year’s root and branch review. This follows on from our recruitment of three lateral hires at partner level in August and the promotion of two partners from associate in June.”

North West firm Weightmans will retain 13 of 15 trainees, giving it a retention rate of 87 per cent.
