Freshfields offers students 2012 Olympic tickets

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is offering aspiring lawyers the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to the Olympic and Paralympic games.

The key legal services provider of London 2012 has opened a competition to all UK or Irish universities, asking students to provide 200 words on why they would like the attend the games with Freshfields.

The magic circle firm has also launched a brand new two-day focus programme for first-years to equip would-be lawyers with the knowledge about what skills and attributes are needed to make their applications stand out.

Head of trainee solicitor recruitment Elizabeth Cope said: “We wanted to do something more substantial for first-year students this year so for the first time we’ll be running our first-year event across two-days.”

The firm is also inviting applications to its International Workshop, which offers attendees the opportunity to spend a day in the London office and day in the Paris office.

The news follows the addition of Dubai to the firm’s list of potential seat moves for candidates on its summer vacation scheme (6 January 2012).

Nineteen students who gain a place on the two-week London vacation scheme can opt to spend an extra week in one of eight of the firm’s international offices, which include Brussels, Dubai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Madrid, New York, Paris and Washington.
