As part of this year’s milk round the top 10 law firm has ditched law fair giveaways in favour of a competition. The two lucky winners will be whisked off on the vacation scheme next summer.

Eversheds head of resourcing Nicky Bizzell said: “We want to engage with students in a way that gives them something solid to build on.

“Work experience is an important part of the training process, but it can be difficult to find the perfect placement – one that is both instructive and interesting. An international placement will be an outstanding addition to any student’s CV.”

The competition requires students to evaluate an innovative idea in law and present it in an interesting way.

Examples of suitable submissions could include an innovative way of using a piece of technology or handling a new piece of legislation.

Students can choose how they wish to present the work, which could be in an essay format, a Powerpoint presentation, a two-minute video or via any other creative

Bizzell added: “We didn’t want to be too prescriptive about it as we want people to have the ability to let their imagination run wild and come up with an idea and a suitable way to submit it on their own.”

Eversheds also offers several skills-based webinars to students as well as its ’Unlocked’ programme, which is aimed at helping talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds pursue a career in law.
