Lord Neuberger MR is set to deliver the verdict for the final of the first English Law Student Association (ELSA) mooting competition, which will be held at the Royal Courts of Justice on Tuesday (22 March).
The event requires the university teams to take part in witness handling and applications for summary judgments in addition to the mock trial.
Committee member and undergraduate law student Joseph Holland said: “We wanted to provide a competition that was providing practical experience for prospective barristers,”
“All the teams have performed at a very high level. The final will see some of the most talented law students battle it out.”
The competition was open strictly for undergraduates and those studying the Graduate Diploma in Law, and is hoped to become an annual event.
The knockout competition consisted of four rounds held at BPP Law School, starting with around 14 teams of four, and were judged by Bar Professional Training Course students and barristers.
Queen Mary, University of London and Oxford University will be participating in the final with the hope of scooping the top prize.
