Graduate trainee numbers at DWF have increased by 44 per cent over the past four years.
From 2009 to 2012 the figure jumped from 16 to 23 trainees while, in 2013, the firm plans to take on 29 trainees.
Andrew Leaitherland, managing partner at DWF, said that the firm’s profits, which have increased by 21 per cent in the last financial year, have been passed onto “attracting, investing in and retaining the best talent”.
Talking about DWF’s focus on training and development, he added: “We have invested a considerable amount of money in the development of our people over the past few years and we ensure that all of our newly qualified solicitors have every opportunity to flourish in their careers.”
The firm is fast-growing with an expansionist outlook. It took over Newcastle’s Crutes in January and merged with Buller Jeffries of Coventry three months later. It acquired Scottish firm Biggart Baillie in July.
In September 2012, the firm achieved an 80 per cent retention rate with 16 of 20 trainees obtaining newly-qualified status.
This time last year, DWF launched a school leavers apprenticeship scheme for legal executives. (23 August 2011)
