DLA Piper retains 83 per cent of NQs

DLA Piper has revealed it is keeping 83 per cent of its September 2012 qualifying trainee solicitors.

The top 10 firm made 78 offers to the 86 trainees that applied for newly qualified (NQ) positions at the firm, with 75 accepting roles. Four trainees chose to withdraw from the application process.

The result shows a slight drop from September 2011 figures, where the firm posted a 90 per cent NQ retention rate, holding onto 69 out of 77 trainees.

The news follows Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) and Mishcon de Reya revealing NQ retention rates of 80 per cent and 50 per cent respectively (27 July 2012).

BLP is keeping 16 out of 20 trainees, while Mishcon is retaining 9 out of 18.

Elsewhere, Burges Salmon, Clifford Chance and Dickinson Dees posted rates of 100 per cent, 77 per cent and 87 per cent respectively for autumn 2012.
