Clydes brings legal apprenticeships to Newcastle

Clyde & Co is expanding its apprenticeship program into its Newcastle office as of this September.

The firm will launch the Trailblazer paralegal apprenticeship, run in conjunction with CILEx Law School, which it already runs in its London, Manchester and Guildford offices.

Clydes’ head of recruitment Caroline Walsh said: “This expansion of legal apprenticeships into our Newcastle office continues our strategy of using apprenticeships for the recruitment and development of young talent. Previous intakes of apprentices have developed very well through mentoring by supervisors and excellent teaching by CILEx Law School, and we are confident that the new legal apprenticeship programme will deliver the same success.”

The government-approved Trailblazer apprenticeships finally launched this year, with Eversheds becoming the first firm to take up the Level 7 version, which allows school leavers to work their way up to solicitor status. More popular so far has been the Level 3 scheme that Clydes has opted for.
