Clifford Chance retains 77 per cent of NQs

Clifford Chance has become the first magic circle firm to reveal its September 2012 newly qualified (NQ) retention rates.

The firm has retained 77 per cent of its qualifying trainee solicitors, holding onto 48 out of 62 after making 50 offers.

The result marks a drop from autumn 2011, where the firm posted a 83 per cent NQ retention rate, keeping 43 out of 52 of its trainees.

The news follows CMS Cameron McKenna and RPC announcing their NQ retention rates, posting 84 per cent and 80 per cent respectively (23 July 2012).

Camerons held onto 26 out of 31 trainees, after offering 29 jobs, while RPC offered roles to 12 out of 15 of its qualifying trainees, with all 12 accepting a role.
