Cleary Gottlieb and Michelmores first to release autumn retention stats

The first three firms to release their autumn 2014 retention figures have all kept on 100% of their trainees.

US firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton is to keep on all nine of the second-year trainees due to qualify this September. Seven will maintain a broad corporate practice while the other two will specialise in disputes. Cleary has gone one better than in 2013, when it kept on seven of eight qualifiers.

South West-founded Michelmores has also recorded 100% retention, keeping all six of its qualifiers. Four will take up positions in the firm’s Exeter headquarters, in the corporate, litigation, family and clinical negligence teams. Another will join the agricultural litigation team in Bristol, while the final one will head to London to work in the banking, restructuring and insolvency group.

Finally, Paul Hastings is keeping both of its two qualifiers for the second year running. They will join US firm’s real estate and corporate groups in London.
