Camerons sells internship for charity

CMS Cameron McKenna is auctioning off a two-week work placement in aid of the Soldiers Charity.

The silent auction, which is due to be held at the Lord Mayor’s Diamond Jubilee Big Curry 2012 on 26 April, will see the top 20 firm sell an internship in its energy and infrastructure teams to be undertaken by April 2013.

The prize is described as: “An extraordinary opportunity for anyone considering a career in legal practice as a solicitor.”

However, unlike the firm’s formal vacation schemes, the internship will be unpaid and the firm will not cover travel costs or other expenses.

Camerons’ vacation schemes are normally run over the spring and summer and are open to undergraduates or postgraduates.

Elsewhere, budding barristers can instead opt for an unpaid internship at Littleton Chambers, to be undertaken by the end of March 2013.

The work experience, donated by Charles Samek QC, will give the person the opportunity to work in commercial and employment litigation for one week.

To enter the silent auction entrants must be over 18 years old and purchase the £95 ticket to attend the lunch on Thursday.

All proceeds go to the Soldiers Charity to assist individuals in areas such as debt relief, mobility assistance, education bursaries, care home fees and respite breaks.
