The Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) will soon be available at the Manchester branch of BPP Law School.
Next September BPP will become the second provider of the BPTC in the city, which is home to 17 barristers chambers.
Until now, it has only been available at Manchester Metropolitan University, which charges for 2013/14 fees of £12,200 for home students and £12,500 for overseas students.
BPP believes that students will welcome a choice of provider and describes this offering, currently being validated by the Bar Standards Board, as the “missing link” as it serves both Manchester and Liverpool, in which there is no BPTC provider.
BPP aims to offer 48 places on its BPTC course from September 2013. Fees will be £13,440 for UK students.
Earlier this month, the latest edition of the Bar Barometer disclosed that 2010/11 saw the highest number of applications for the BPTC in five years – with 3,100 students applying for places. (14 November 2012)
