Blackstone Chambers boosts pupillage award to £65,000

Blackstone Chambers has increased its pupillage award from £60,000 to £65,000.

The new amount will be given to pupils starting in 2017, with up to £17,000 of it available to be drawn during their BPTC year.

Blackstone is the latest in a number of top commercial sets to boost its award. One Essex Court, 7 King’s Bench Walk and Essex Court Chambers are among the chambers that have moved from £60,000 to £65,000.

However, none of them can match Atkin Chambers. In September, Lawyer 2B revealed that the construction-focused set will give its pupils £72,500 from 2016 – the highest award at the Bar.

Blackstone is one of the Bar’s most successful sets. It rose one place in The Lawyer’s Bar Top 30 in 2015, from seventh to sixth position, with fee income of £51m.
