Birketts latest to bump up trainee intake size

East Anglian firm Birketts has increased its trainee intake size.

The firm has needed to recruit a number of external newly-qualified (NQ) solicitors recently, and the firm’s human resources director Shaun Savory said: “Due to the firm’s growth we have taken the necessary decision to increase our future annual trainee intake from eight to ten.”

Birketts kept on five of its seven autumn 2015 qualifiers, with two going into the firm’s wills and advisory team, one into commercial property and one into property litigation, all in its Ipswich office. The final NQ joined the family team in Chelmsford.

Earlier this week Lawyer 2B revealed that Macfarlanes is increasing the number of graduates it recruits from 25 to 30, the latest in a number of firms to expand its trainee intake.
