Ashurst posts 80 per cent retention

Ashurst has revealed a retention rate of 80 per cent, keeping 24 of 30 September finishers on in newly-qualified (NQ) solicitor roles.

Of the 30 qualifying trainees, two chose not to apply for NQ postions at Ashurst. The 24 who are staying on will work in the firm’s London office and be employed across a range of practice areas.

Seven NQs will go to the firm’s corporate, commercial and competition departments, while another seven will go into finance. Five will be employed within energy, resources, real estate and infrastructure. The final five will work in the disputes department.

The rate is broadly similar to last autumn’s rate of 83 per cent, when the firm kept on 24 of 29 trainees in an NQ capacity. In spring 2013, it kept on 19 of 27 trainees, a rate of 70 per cent.
