The Incorporated Council of Law Reporting (ICLR) is opening applications for its new annual bursary to support a pupil in need at the publicly funded Bar.
The new £12,000 award was announced in August to mark the ICLR’s 150th anniversary and will provide direct financial assistance to one person during the course of their pupillage.
To qualify for the bursary, the pupil must be at a chambers whose work is predominantly publicly funded, and where the chambers’ own pupillage award is not more than £14,000.
Applications for the 2016/17 bursary open on 1 March and will be judged on both merit and financial need.
Applicants will be shortlisted by mid-May and those that are successful will be invited to complete the practical assessment of writing a law report headnote by the end of May. The winner will be announced in July.
