Allen & Overy (A&O) will keep on 82 per cent of its autumn 2014 qualifying trainees, matching Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s rate but failing to top the high retention at Linklaters.
The firm will keep on 41 of its 50 trainees. Of those 50, 46 applied for a position and 43 offers were made.
A&O’s retention has been typically been the lowest of all of the magic circle, with the firm keeping on an average of just 79.3 per cent of its cohort since spring 2010. However, this autumn it was third best, with Clifford Chance keeping on only 75 per cent of its trainees.
It is the last magic circle firm to announce its retention this autumn.
