Unofficial trader gunned down by Arsenal FC

A London street trader has lost the next stage of his epic battle to sell unofficial Arsenal FC merchandise outside the club&#39s stadium.

Matthew Reed, who has been selling goods outside Highbury for 31 years, has been told to stop by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) because Arsenal must be allowed to protect its trademarks, which generate more than £5m for the football club every year.

The ECJ found that selling unofficial merchandise could lead to a “risk of confusion in the minds of supporters as to the origins of the products”. But Reed said he will appeal against the decision and plans to continue selling goods as usual.
