Twin sisters make the grade at Derby University

Twin sisters make the grade at Derby UniversityIdentical twins who both worked full-time as legal secretaries while studying law are preparing to celebrate their graduation.

The 25-year-old sisters, Emma and Kelly Shooter (pictured), studied at the University of Derby part-time while holding down jobs as legal secretaries. Its a very competitive environment and it can be difficult to get a job. So we thought working full-time and studying part-time would put us in a better position, said Kelly.

The sisters left school aged 16 but after realising an ambition to work in the legal sector did their A Levels at night and then enrolled on an undergraduate course at Derby.

Kelly said: We were really busy. We would do a full days work, often with overtime, then go on to study.

But the hard work has not put the duo off and they intend to put their new plans into practice. We both want to work in crime. Thats the hope. So, we are going to get more experience and then do the LPC, Kelly added.

The sisters are also the 1,000th and 1,0001st LLB students to graduate from Derby.

Tony ONeill, assistant head of the School of Law and Criminology said: Its great that together they should mark the end of our first 1,000 LL.B graduates and the beginning of the next 1,000. We wish them every success for the future.
