Transsexuals given green light to marry

Transsexuals will be able to marry in their new gender under a package of laws that attempt to protect legal rights and address human rights inequalities. Under the terms of the draft Gender Equality Bill, recently announced by the Department of Constitutional Affairs, transsexual people who can demonstrate that they have taken steps towards living fully and permanently in their acquired gender will have access to all the appropriate rights and entitlements, including the right to respect for family life.
