London law soc launches mentoring scheme for trainees with no contract

The City of Westminster and Holborn Law Society (CWHLS) has set up a mentoring scheme for those students on the Legal Practice Course without training contracts.

A scheme has been devised to allow students the chance to chat about their career options, CV styles or interview techniques with practising solicitors.

Students at the College of Law (Store Street), BPP Law School, the University of Westminster and City University (at the Inns of Court School of Law) are eligible to apply for support from a mentor, although the CWHLS is firm that there is absolutely no guarantee of a training contract.

The CWHLS is appealing for a core team of lawyers to volunteer for the mentoring scheme, and hopes ideally that solicitors involved in training issues will step forward.
