Solicitors who have been asked to leave have been offered a lump-sum payment equivalent to six months pay.
Solicitors are understood to have been offered the choice to leave straight away and gain a tax benefit on the lump sum, or to carry on working for up to three months but be subject to tax.
The firm's decision to slash IP assistants coincides with the departure of two partners. Trademark specialist Tom Hope and patent litigator Robin Whaite are set to leave the firm at the end of the year.
