The London office of US firm Covington & Burling has underlined its strategy of organic growth in the UK by launching a trainee scheme.
Five places are available from autumn 2002, making Covington one of the biggest US employers of trainees in London.
Salaries are being pegged to the US norm – newly-qualifieds will earn £85,000.
According to website RollOnFriday, only US firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom in London pays more to its newly-qualifieds, at £92,000. Magic circle firms pay an average of £55,000 per annum.
