Charity fashion cash-in

Lawyers at Allen & Overy (A&O) did their bit for charity earlier this month by staging a staff fashion show. But since Kate Moss was otherwise engaged, the magic circle firm persuaded members of staff to strut their stuff in the partners’ dining room, which had been miraculously transformed into a catwalk.

Two of the loudest cheers of the evening went to HR director and the champion of A&O’s most disgruntled associates Genevieve Tennant and litigation partner Tim House, who hot-footed it from the High Court where he was representing half-a-dozen non-executive directors of Equitable Life.

The successful evening raised more than 10,000 for various tsunami charities. The raffle, of course, contributed to the overall proceeds. One of the most sought-after prizes was an additional day’s holiday. And, of course, the compere for the evening, litigation partner Peter Watson, reminded the guests that the holiday should be taken on any Sunday before the end of the year.
